New trucks ready for recycling in
Tweed
Gold Coast Council’s recycling campaign is already reaping results with partner
Tweed Skips buying three new trucks ready for pick ups in the
Tweed area.
“We still want people to follow our guidelines and ensure their recycling bin
and general waste bin are placed in an accessible position and are not
overflowing” said Gary.
Residents in Tweed have been encouraged to compact their waste which helps
them fit more into their yellow-lid recycling bin.
Recycling has huge environmental and greenhouse gas (GHG) benefits. If a resident puts out their fully co-mingled yellow-lid recycling bin every fortnight for a year they are saving half a tonne of CO2e over the year. This means they are saving the same GHG emissions as watching their television for 2500 hours or driving their car 1500km.
Working with Tweed Skips the aim of Council’s four month recycling campaign is to educate and encourage
Tweed residents to put more recycling materials - especially metal, paper, cardboard, glass and plastic
- in the yellow-lid recycling bin.
